half-birthdays

today is my half birthday.

if somebody asks me how old i am,

i will say in all seriousness,

"twenty-three and a half."

i will continue to say this until

i am twenty-three and three-quarters.

today i got one half of a birthday card,

but one whole cupcake

(minus one bite).

did you ever have a half birthday party

when you were a kid?

i think i did when i turned three and a half

or maybe it was four and a half.

i got a ball to play with that looked like a ninja turtle.

i think we should celebrate half birthdays for everybody.
